In the summer of 2005, my long time buddy, Vin and I decided to experience the mystical land known to some as Europe. Yes, we have all had 8th grade history class, I know what important battles took place, ancient civilizations that have lived there throughout the past few thousand years, and the historic monuments and relics scattered throughout. Our goal was not to visit and investigate each unique place, rather we chose to launch ourselves directly into unknown territory without a plan or hardly a map. We had some countries we had heard were cool to visit and some fun things in mind to do. The goal of our trip was to see as much of Europe as possible and experience as much as we could in the three weeks we were there.
The result was a series of 12 hour train rides at night to combine travel and sleep time. Sleep was a rarity due to harsh train sleeping conditions. We did manage to catch a few winks here and there under the watch of historic monuments such as the Tower of London (where numerous people were murdered), park benches, stone slabs, and monuments felt nearly as comfy as home after long. We did manage to make it through 10 different countries, some were good enough that we felt the need to go back a second time (Italy, London, France) and others warranted multi-day adventures to fully take in all they had to offer (Italy, France, Germany, Ireland).
Here are the pictures and a little more about our trip at each of the 10 countries we visited.
