This is a computer I built Christmas 2004 for my then girlfriend, Lynnette. I informed her that I was painting her christmas present and she said that she wanted flames. After looking up some flames and how to articles I went to work sanding, masking and painting, here are the pictures of my work. Check out my how-to section for more detialed instructions on how to paint flames. Here is a before and after shot to give you an idea of what I had before I sanded, primed, painted, sanded, and painted some more.
The flames were all done by hand using 1/8" masking tape. I painted the front red and the top and sides black. I then used the masking tape to outline the flames and mask off the negitive area I wanted to remain black. I them appalied a base coat of red to the flame area to match the front. Then I used orange and yellow to make the flames fade and look more realistic.
